A Dutch silicon startup has pulled in more than €200M for its first big institutional round, and Samsung helped lead the cheque.
The company is Euclyd, based in Eindhoven, and it is building custom compute and memory architecture for foundation AI models. Somerset Capital Partners, the EQT-managed Scaleup Europe Fund and Innovation Industries joined Samsung as co-leads, with Denmark’s EIFO, imec.xpand, the Brabant Development Agency and Quadri also participating. DataCenterDynamics put the round at $231M.
Peter Wennink, the former president and chief executive of ASML, joins the board as chairman, giving the two-year-old company a direct line to the equipment industry that supplies every advanced fab.
Chips and systems, not just accelerators
Founded in 2024 by Bernardo Kastrup and Atul Sinha at High Tech Campus Eindhoven, Euclyd is building what it calls an ultra-efficient stack for foundation models. Its roadmap pairs craftwerk, an agentic AI processor built from programmable ASIC logic, with a companion machine the company bills as the lowest-power exascale AI factory.
The design leans on processor-memory co-design rather than adding more accelerator cores, aiming at the bandwidth and power walls that limit large-model serving.
Samsung executive Dede Goldschmidt, who heads its semiconductor innovation centre, argued that the startup pairs a proven team with an unusual read on AI data center bottlenecks. The fresh capital goes to engineering headcount, the silicon and systems roadmap, and sales into enterprise, government and hyperscale accounts.
