SEMI is upending the rhythm of its flagship US trade show, shifting SEMICON West to spring and anchoring it in Phoenix for the long haul. The association said the move clears breathing room in a second half already packed with its India, Taiwan, Europa and Japan events, while San Francisco hosts a final edition this October at Moscone Center.
The first Phoenix edition opens March 30 to April 1, 2027 at the convention center there. SEMI has locked the following two editions as well, May 9 to 11 in 2028 and April 3 to 5 in 2029, giving exhibitors years of stable dates to plan around.
Arizona has drawn more than $200B in semiconductor-related investment since 2020, and workforce programs such as the Southwest Regional Node of the National Network for Microelectronics Education are training the people the new fabs need. SEMI Americas president Joe Stockunas called the spring schedule an exciting new chapter and said the region’s momentum won the event long-term.
From 2027 the show belongs to Phoenix, a sign of where the industry expects to build, test and ship chips in the years ahead, and a shift that gives attendees a single familiar venue to return to each spring.
