Counterpoint Research has tracked smartphone application processors as a category since 2024. Its latest tally gives Samsung’s in-house silicon the best quarter it has recorded, helped by a flagship range that now leans on the chip Samsung designs rather than one it buys.
The Korean vendor’s Exynos parts took 9 percent of global AP shipments between April and June, the researcher found. That is a gain of 2 points over the opening quarter and 3 points over the same period in 2025.
Volume came from both ends of the range. The premium tier was carried by the Galaxy S26 family, while mid-range shipments leaned on the Galaxy A57 and A37.
Rivals still hold most of the market. MediaTek’s Dimensity and Helio lines led at 31 percent, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon parts followed at 23 percent, and Apple’s A-series designs accounted for 19 percent.
Share matters to Samsung beyond the phone division. Exynos orders keep its foundry and packaging lines busier, trim the royalties it pays to Arm and reduce the margin it passes to Qualcomm. The next test is whether the successor part arrives on Samsung’s own process on schedule.
