The Semiconductor Industry Association has picked Michael Robbins, chief executive of the drone lobby AUVSI, as its next president and CEO starting October 1.
Robbins replaces John Neuffer, who announced in January he would step down after nearly 12 years leading the trade group. Neuffer will remain through September to ease the transition.
Robbins has run the Association for Uncrewed Vehicle Systems International since 2020, representing commercial and defense robotics companies, and serves as an officer in the US Navy Reserve. Earlier in his career he co-founded the consulting firm Intrepid and spent a decade as chief of staff to the late Michigan congressman John Dingell.
Lisa Su, AMD’s chief executive and SIA board chair for 2026, endorsed the choice, pointing to Robbins’ policy record as the right fit for a trade group pressing Washington on chip competitiveness.
The appointment gives the chip industry’s main Washington voice a new leader as it lobbies Congress over export policy and CHIPS Act implementation.
