The AI chip boom keeps accelerating, with global semiconductor sales climbing 35.1 percent quarter over quarter to $403.3B in the second quarter, per SIA data compiled by WSTS.
The industry is on pace for a record year above $1.5T. If the second quarter’s run rate held for all four quarters, sales would land near $1.6T.
June was the standout month at $134.5B, up 123.6 percent from a year earlier and 9.7 percent from May. Growth was broad-based: the Americas led with a 160.9 percent annual gain, Asia Pacific and other markets rose 124.4 percent, China climbed 112.8 percent, Europe added 75.2 percent and Japan grew 39 percent. All regions also grew month over month, led by China at 10.4 percent.
WSTS compiles the figures on a three-month moving average. SIA president John Neuffer pointed to strength across the Americas, Asia Pacific and China as proof that demand is broad rather than concentrated in one region.
The data underscores a market where capacity remains tight across memory, analog and mature nodes, not just leading-edge processors, keeping prices and utilization elevated.
