AMD’s market capitalization crossed $1T for the first time on Monday, peaking near $611 a share before easing back below the line. The milestone capped a five-day rally that lifted the stock about 9 percent and made AMD the seventh chipmaker to reach a trillion-dollar valuation.

The rally rests on numbers rather than sentiment. AMD reported $11.5B in second-quarter 2026 revenue, up more than 50 percent from a year earlier, with data center hardware driving most of the gain. Its EPYC server processors took a record 30.7 percent of x86 shipments in the quarter, and the company’s AI accelerators are now the main merchant alternative to Nvidia.

Analysts tie the re-rating to how few vendors can sell both general-purpose CPUs and AI training silicon at scale. AMD sits alone in that position, which turns a single data center win into a two-product opportunity.

The stock did not hold the level all day. Chip shares gained broadly as investors set aside last week’s warnings about an AI buildout slowdown, and AMD moved with the sector. Staying above $1T now depends on whether accelerator shipments keep pace with the capacity AMD has booked for 2027.
