Lumilens has closed a $700M Series C that values the two-year-old optical networking startup at $5.51B and lifts its total funding past $900M.
The San Jose company’s LumiCore platform spans silicon photonics, mixed-signal ICs and electrical-optical interposers, feeding co-packaged optics and pluggable transceivers that replace copper wiring inside AI data centers. Lumilens says it is already shipping its first product into production AI data centers under a multi-billion-dollar customer agreement.
The round was co-led by Atreides Management, Bain Capital Ventures, Meritech, Seligman Ventures and Spark Capital, with participation from Addition, Alkeon, HarbourVest, J.P. Morgan Private Capital, Mayfield, Peak XV, Qualcomm Ventures, Redpoint Ventures and others.
Investors are betting that as AI clusters scale past hundreds of thousands of GPUs, electrical interconnects become the bottleneck, and that light-based links will be the fix. CEO Ankur Singla and CTO Ted Schmidt founded the company in 2024 and are emerging from stealth with the announcement.
The proceeds will expand silicon, systems, software and high-volume manufacturing operations.
