Sphere Ax, a South Korean vision AI and edge computing specialist, has signed a strategic memorandum of understanding with U.S. AI semiconductor company Blaize Holdings to jointly develop and commercialize physical AI products for the global market.

The signing took place at South Korea’s National Assembly during a policy roundtable on Korea-U.S. physical AI cooperation. The agreement aligns with ongoing government efforts to strengthen national AI semiconductor competitiveness and expand international technology partnerships.
Under the MOU, the companies will collaborate across joint research and development in edge AI computing, commercialization of AI semiconductor-based solutions, business development in target industries, and joint customer acquisition in domestic and overseas markets.
Technology and product focus
The partnership combines Blaize’s AI semiconductor technology—optimized for physical AI workloads—with Sphere Ax’s core software expertise in vision AI. Together, they plan to build a next-generation physical AI solution for sectors including smart cities, smart factories, industrial safety, security, robotics, and mobility.
Critically, the collaboration aims to establish a Korea-based product development and production system that connects overseas semiconductor technology with domestic manufacturing for global supply. Blaize recognized Sphere Ax’s technical capabilities and growth potential in the Korean market, and both companies intend to build a long-term relationship.
Strategic significance
Yunha Park, CEO of Sphere Ax, stated the partnership is “more than a simple technology alliance,” calling it the first step toward developing and producing commercial AI products in Korea using globally competitive AI semiconductor technology. He added that Sphere Ax will expand global businesses to position Korea as a key production hub in the edge AI market.
Dinakar Munagala, CEO of Blaize, described Korea as a “strategically important market” that combines technology leadership with speed to market. He said the partnership will create new growth opportunities and extend Blaize’s platform from Asia into global markets.

This partnership represents a concrete step in Korea-U.S. physical AI cooperation, linking U.S. semiconductor design with Korean manufacturing and software integration. If successful, it could establish a model for cross-border AI hardware production and strengthen Korea’s role in the global edge AI supply chain.
