A Colorful memory kit built around CXMT DRAM dies has cleared 9,000 MT/s on an AMD platform, the latest sign that China’s largest memory maker is closing the performance gap with the established DRAM trio.
The run comes from TechPowerUp: a 48GB Colorful iGame Shadow II kit, built from two 24GB modules, hit 4,507 MHz on an iGame X870E VULCAN W OC motherboard, which works out to roughly 9,014 MT/s. Colorful is also tuning the same modules for latency, hitting CL30 at DDR5-6000 with CL28 in preliminary runs on current AMD and Intel platforms.
The factory side is moving too, with unconfirmed reports out of China pointing to 90 percent production rates for CXMT’s 17nm-class DDR5. The chips hit that level without the EUV exposure systems that Micron and other rivals use on their finer 10nm-class nodes.
Timing helps as well. DRAM prices are climbing and the big Korean suppliers are focused on HBM and server capacity, which lets CXMT move conventional DDR5 volume without heavy discounting.
