The global chip industry has now sold more in the first seven months of 2026 than in any full year on record, according to data the Semiconductor Industry Association released on September 4.
July revenue reached $146.8B, up from $137.9B in June and from $62.5B in the same month of 2025. SIA said the 6.4 percent monthly gain extends a run of 17 straight months of sequential growth, and the 135.1 percent jump over last July shows demand running far ahead of the 2025 pace. The totals, compiled by World Semiconductor Trade Statistics, are three-month moving averages.
Growth was broadest in the Americas, where year-over-year sales rose 171.3 percent. Asia Pacific and all other territories climbed 134.9 percent, China 123.6 percent, Europe 85.2 percent and Japan 50.8 percent.
Measured against June, Japan led with a 9.2 percent gain, followed by the Americas at 8.7 percent, Asia Pacific and other regions at 6.8 percent, Europe at 5.2 percent and China at 2.9 percent.
SIA chief executive John Neuffer framed the milestone as evidence that demand from AI systems has widened the industry’s customer base, with the Americas, Asia Pacific and China all delivering steep year-over-year increases for July.
