Defect inspection, predictive maintenance and endoscopic video analysis are moving to the edge on hardware built around Intel’s newest process. Advantech’s four new products all run on Core Ultra Series 3 processors, silicon fabricated on Intel’s 18A node.
The family delivers up to 180 platform TOPS for AI acceleration. It spans two motherboards, the MIO-5381 and AIMB-234, plus the SOM-5886 module and the ARK-2252 edge computer, with the boards combining integrated GPUs and NPUs for real-time inference on medical video.
Graphics get a boost from Intel Arc silicon with up to 12 Xe cores, roughly 50% faster than the prior generation. Advantech sees that headroom paying off in 3D inspection, deep-learning AOI and high-resolution HMI rendering.
Software ties the family together: the EdgeAI SDK includes GenAI Studio for custom LLM development, and the Orchestration Platform handles fleet-wide updates. The rollout counts among the first commercial edge computing lines to ship on Intel’s 18A process.
